Udaya Yoga Studio was established by Caitlyn McKenzie in 2017. The studio was originally situated in Somerset West in the Western Cape before opening its doors to the Lowveld in March 2018.
Udaya is a Sanskrit word for ‘rising sun’, it’s quite fitting, as Mpumalanga means ‘the place where the sun rises’.
Udaya Yoga Studio was created to offer people a safe space where they can practice yoga. The studio has remained small to offer quality over quantity classes, where students can receive plenty of individual attention to help advance their practice in a supportive way.
“My intention when opening the studio was to help people find their inner stillness, to truly connect with themselves and to take their practice off the mat and into their everyday life. Above all else, yoga has taught me to be kind, it has led me to a life filled with an incredible and uplifting community, and that has been the foundations upon which Udaya Yoga Studio was built.”
