My yoga journey started while studying a business science degree at UCT in 2001 when I attended integral hatha yoga classes with my parents at a small nearby yoga studio. I immediately fell in love with the practices on a physical, mental and emotional level and completed my teacher training in 2003 to further my interest and knowledge in the art. I had no intention of teaching, I was planning on going into the corporate world. Yoga had other plans for me and I’ve been teaching and traveling full time since 2004. My yoga journey and teaching has transitioned through many different phases but my true passion is gentle, slow, restorative and healing yoga. I seem to attract students who struggle with stress, anxiety, burn out, back problems and low self-esteem, all conditions I have journeyed through as well.
A Yoga and Meditation practitioner since early childhood. I attended my first yoga class with Mrs Bhikibhen Keshew, in 1965 at Jyoti Yoga, Mitra Hall, Mowbray, CT. I had the privilege of master to pupil hands-on training and she subsequently appointed me to teach her classes. I wrote essays on yoga from age 12 and was constantly called upon to do public talks and demonstrations.
Qualified as a Yoga Teacher in 1985 at Ananda Kutir Ashrama

SARYTA was established in 1994 and was appointed Chairperson of SARYTA in 1995 – by Swami Parvatiananda and Mother Yogeshwari at Ananda Kutir Yoga Centre. As one of the pioneers in the promotion and recognition of complementary modalities in South Africa, I was selected to do a presentation in parliament and championed the recognition of Ayurveda in South Africa.
Teaching Experience
During the past 40 years, I have actively promoted yoga through talks, seminars, and media. I have taught and shared the great benefits of yoga, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, and Ayurveda lifestyle. Worked extensively in the socio-religious, interfaith, and political sectors and held many leadership roles. Being deeply rooted in human connection, I offered voluntary yoga services to several marginalised communities. This has brought profound transformation through peace, solace, forgiveness, caring, and compassion.
